hi, I'm Gillian!

I'm a somatic anthropologist 🔮, meaning I don't study the body as an isolated, corporeal object; I study the body in relation to society and culture.

As a current PhD student with master's degrees in both embodiment theory and anthropology and social change, I've found somatics, when specifically combined with pleasure, has amazing potential:

Change can be pleasurable

Change can be gentle

Change can be lasting

knowing DOING BEING

RE-ENCHANT THE BODY

embodiment is not intuitive under systems of oppression

having a body doesn't necessarily mean being in the body

somatic work is resistance

bottom-up processes create lasting change

People say the body never lies, but this confuses the logic of the rational mind with the animal intelligence of the body. In order to learn what the body is saying we have to learn to speak it's language.
